Aligned with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, this study examines civil service recruitment in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Evidence from a national exam based hiring reform shows improved bureaucratic quality and transparency, while also revealing risks of increased gender inequality, highlighting the need for inclusive institutional design.
Inclusive Remembrance for Peace and Justice
Aligned with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, the “Uncovering Forgotten Heroes” workshop series examined how inclusive remembrance and civic engagement support justice and peace. Marking the 80th anniversary of World War II’s end, the initiative highlighted the role of civil society in historical accountability, reconciliation, and resilient institutions.
