Prof Lau Chi-pang discusses his award-winning book on Tung Wah and local heritage

Prof Lau Chi-pang, Associate Vice-President (Academic Affairs and External Relations) and Professor of the Department of History of Lingnan, and his team have published the “Hand-in-Hand for Benevolence: 150 Years of History of The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals of Hong Kong”, which won the Social Sciences Publishing Award of the Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards 2023, alongside two other books on local intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong-style milk tea, cheongsam and kwan kwa.

 

 

In this interview, Prof Lau discusses the methods and challenges in writing these books, and their significance for the historical research of Hong Kong.
