In his welcoming remarks, President S. Joe Qin shares Lingnan's recent major developments and achievements, including the establishments of the Lingnan University Institute for Advanced Study and the School of Data Science.
As the new academic year approaches, Lingnan University warmly welcomes top-notch academics from around the world! At the staff orientation on 21 August 2024, President Prof S. Joe Qin led the University’s senior management team, including Prof Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Vice-President (Academics) cum Provost, and Prof Xin Yao, Vice-President (Research and Innovation), to greet nearly 70 new faculty members.
In his welcoming remarks, President Qin introduced the illustrious history of the Lingnan legacy, and shared its recent major developments and outstanding achievements. Particularly, under the Lingnan-60 Global Talent Recruitment campaign, the University has brought a group of new distinguished scholars and senior leaders, with over 25 Lingnan scholars, or 14% of the faculty, as the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford.
“At Lingnan, we promote collaboration and teamwork to achieve our common goals. Similar to athletes in sports or the Olympics, we highly value collective effort. We cultivate a supportive environment where ‘1+1’ is greater than 2,” said President Qin.
With this new impetus for innovation and technology, Lingnan University aspires to become a comprehensive university in arts and sciences in the digital era, with impactful research and innovations.
