Lingnan University celebrates National Day with a flag-raising ceremony, and presents 7,500 PureAuras to residents of Sham Shui Po subdivided units
Lingnan University’s flag-raising ceremony celebrating the 75th National Day.
Lingnan University held a flag-raising ceremony on 1 October 2024 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The ceremony was attended by Prof Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Vice-President (Academics) cum Provost and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Scientific Computing, senior management, faculty and students, who all gathered to honour the occasion.
The flag-raising, performed by the Lingnan University Flag Guard Team, featured the national flag of the People's Republic of China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flag, and the flag of Lingnan University, which all fluttered gently in the light breeze while everyone, solemnly united in celebration of National Day, sang the national anthem.

In addition to the ceremony, Lingnan University participated in a heartwarming initiative hosted by the Federation of HK Guangxi Community Organisations and the Sham Shui Po District Office of the Home Affairs Department. The "Warmth for All Families" initiative was organised by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, the Hong Kong Federation of Liaoning Association, and the Greater Bay Area Social Innovation & Charitable Association, supported by the Sham Shui Po Residents Association and Mr Lo Chi-chiu's ward office, and sponsored by the Gui Kong Caring Foundation. Seven thousand, five hundred subdivided unit households in the Sham Shui Po district received a PureAura, Lingnan University's innovative and compact air purifier.
A recent survey conducted by Lingnan University showed that PureAura air purifiers make a significant difference in improving indoor air quality for residents of subdivided units. Users reported that PureAura is effective in reducing the indoor concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and meets World Health Organization Global Air Quality Guidelines. They have experienced a noticeable improvement in respiratory issues, and positive effects on their mental well-being.
