Lingnan University Science Unit hosts Urban Bee Hotel Workshop to promote bee conservation

Lingnan University Science Unit recently held a workshop titled “Introduction to Design and Build a Bee Hotel”. The aim was to provide the public with a deeper understanding of the ecological characteristics and diversity of solitary bees, while promoting the importance of bee conservation.
During the event, research postgraduate student Roy Cheung Shun-chi shared the research findings on bees conducted by the Science Unit in Hong Kong, emphasising the necessity of protecting urban bees. Prof Roger Lee Ho Assistant Professor of Science Unit, offered hands-on guidance to participants on the techniques for building bee hotels, enabling them to create habitats specifically designed for solitary bees, facilitating their reproduction within bamboo tubes.
Participant Mr Wong commented that the event was highly engaging, with the workshop content being both informative and enriching, benefiting him and his family greatly. Both adults and children were able to participate in the construction of the bee hotels, making for a highly interactive experience.
