Pathways to Empower Research Postgraduates in Career Preparation

Background

The “Pathways to Empower Research Postgraduates in Career Preparation” programme (“The Programme”) aims at facilitating research postgraduate (RPg) students to better prepare for their future career plan and development by means of necessary tools, trainings, guidance, and opportunities to excel in their future purview.

Objectives

Facilitate self-assessment and introspection for RPg students to enhance their self-understanding.
Enable RPg students to explore and understand diverse career options available to them.
Equip RPg students with the necessary skills, knowledge, resources, and professional networks to support their successful job search.
Empower RPg students to develop and execute personalised career planning strategies.

All research postgraduate students of Lingnan University

Stage 1 Foundation Formulation	Facilitate RPg students in reviewing their skills acquired in previous studies and experiences	Self-assessment tools under the facilitation by career coaches
Stage 2 Exploration of Career Options	Assist RPg students to understand possible career options and determine the preferred career sector(s)	Talks conducted by career consultants and practitioners
Stage 3 Development and Acquisition of Experiences and Transferable Skills	Facilitate students to bridge the gap between their acquired skillsets and those attributes needed by their desired career options	Workshop on interdisciplinary collaboration Sector-specific interview workshop Sharing session by entrepreneurs Mentoring Programme
