Project Overview

• Project Title: Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing in Place Project
• Funding: Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust
• Project Phases:
  • Phase I: 2019–2022 (3 years)
  • Phase II: 2022–2025 (3 years)

• Core Objectives: Promote gerontechnology across six major themes—Healthcare, Dining, Living, Transports, Learning, and Exercise—while providing an educational and entrepreneurial platform to foster ageing in place and a dementia-friendly society.

   

1. Public Education & Capacity Building (Events & Activities)

• Gerontech-X Lab Activities:
  • Guided tours available for public application.
  • Regular Open-Lab events allowing walk-in visits without prior application.
• Certificate Courses:
  • Gerontech Practitioner Training Course: An 18-hour certified course designed for older adults, caregivers, and students to understand elderly needs and practical gerontechnology applications.
  • Gerontech Sociopreneurship Training Course: Designed to promote social entrepreneurship alongside gerontechnology solutions.
• Seminars: Annual seminars gathering industry and community stakeholders to drive gerontechnology development.
• Innovative Workshops & Competitions: Gerontech Incubation Lab-cum-Design Competition, encouraging students to prototype innovative gerontech products tailored to elderly needs.

• Community Outreach: GTSA team and trained Gerontech Ambassadors conduct outreach activities across Hong Kong’s 18 districts.

   

2. Collaboration with LU Academic Programmes & Courses

• The project actively collaborates with Lingnan University’s academic curriculum and degree programmes:
