Latest career development and exchange sports events on campus

Since 1995, Lingnan University and Lingnan College Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) have hosted the Lingnan Exchange Summer Programme on their campuses on alternate years, with the staunch support of The Board of Trustees of Lingnan College. This year, 97 faculty members and students from Lingnan College SYSU came to our Tuen Mun campus from 9-11 June to share cultural and athletic views and values with 110 LU staff and students.

 

Organised by the Office of Student Affairs of LU, the three-day-two-night exchange camp consisted of various sports events and workshops, including basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis and fencing. The team championship was won by LU.

 

   

Other joint activities included orienteering, exercise-for-all programme and a banquet, encouraging students from both institutions to build friendships and build on the Lingnan spirit together.

 

And in late May, LU’s Office of Student Affairs and School of Interdisciplinary Studies arranged the Grassroots Football Leader Certificate Course for 40 students who want to be coaches. The three-day course, conducted by The Football Association of Hong Kong, China, offered sports theories and practical sessions to teach the Youth Football Leaders to coach children under 12 years old.

 

The course covered the role of grassroots coach educators, warm-up for grassroots, basic football skills, training organisation, coaching methods, safety and code of conduct.
