Urgent call for the transformation of education learning practices in the AI era
On 17 November, Lingnan University’s Teaching and Learning Centre and The University of Sydney’s Educational Innovation Team co-hosted a pivotal seminar titled “The Transformation of Global Higher Education Learning Pedagogies: Harnessing the Innovation and Technology Revolution”. With an attendance of approximately 300 participants, both in person and online, the event highlighted the urgency to rethink and revolutionise educational practices to adapt to the AI era.
Recently, Prof Wu Shengfan, Assistant Professor at the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at Lingnan University, worked with teams from the City University of Hong Kong, the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Jilin University to develop a "self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) stabilisation strategy" to significantly improve the high-temperature operational stability of efficient Perovskite solar cells (PSCs), thereby upgrading the commercial viability of perovskite-based photovoltaics. Prof Wu is a co-corresponding author of this study, which was published in Nature, the first time that the Lingnan School of Interdisciplinary Studies has published an article in Nature as co-corresponding author.
Lingnan University’s Registry is proud to announce that its new Undergraduate Admissions website has won a Silver Medal at the prestigious 20th Annual w3 Awards 2025, judged by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA), whose members are global industry leaders such as Walt Disney Studios, Netflix, IBM, Deloitte Digital and LG. This is the website’s second international prize since it was launched this February.
Lingnan University Mentorship Programmes - Happy Hour
Lingnan University has officially launched its 2025-26 Mentorship Programmes, with close to 600 mentors and mentees across a broad spectrum of disciplines. To mark the commencement of this year’s initiatives, a Happy Hour themed “People Strength amid Digital Tide” was held on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, at Watermark, Central Ferry Pier No. 7, bringing together leading alumni, industry leaders, students, and friends of the University to celebrate the enduring value of human connections in an increasingly digital era.
The campus of Lingnan University became a whirlwind journey across continents as the Office of Global Education (OGE) and Office of Student Affairs (OSA) hosted International Day 2025 “Around the World” recently. It was a dynamic celebration of cultural diversity that brought the entire world to its doorstep, and drew over 800 participants, a remarkable 60 per cent increase in attendance.
Organised by the Faculty of Arts of Lingnan University, the Lingnan Arts Biennale 2025, “Metamorphoses”, opened officially on 24 October, at The Box, Freespace of the West Kowloon Cultural District, bringing together creative forces from multiple disciplines to explore the relationships between life, technology, and culture through forms such as dance, opera, music, and the digital arts. The event is open to the public free of charge, and audiences are invited to consider the significance of art and cultural inheritance in this digital age.
Traffic accidents and last-minute service requests often disrupt logistics efficiency. Dr Tong Hao, Postdoctoral Fellow of the Division of Artificial Intelligence of the School of Data Science at Lingnan University, has developed an Intelligent Vehicle Routing Optimisation System capable of dynamically simulating traffic conditions and task variations to show the most efficient routes for vehicle fleets when faced with sudden congestion or additional deliveries, so as to maximise operational efficiency. His dissertation Advancing optimization and evaluation for dynamic capacitated arc routing problems is the only research project worldwide to receive the 2026 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award.
