A hundred top scholars join Lingnan

This year, LU has welcomed about 100 new faculty members from top universities around the world, including the University of Oxford, Harvard, Stanford, the University of California, Berkeley, Yale, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Tsinghua University, the University of Toronto, the National University of Singapore, Northwestern University Illinois, King’s College London, the University of Southern California, and Boston University.

 

Among them are Prof Sam Kwong and Prof Xi Chen, eminent scholars in the area of artificial intelligence and sustainability respectively. Prof Kwong has been appointed as Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research) and Chair Professor of Computational Intelligence, and Prof Chen will be Dean of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Chair Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies. Both are ranked in the top 2% internationally by Stanford University.

 

A series of orientation and induction programmes, including the Staff Orientation Programme held on 23 August, have been organised to help new colleagues familiarise themselves with LU’s unique teaching, learning and research environment.
