“Lingnan Teacher and Student Recitation Team” wins seven awards at 24th Qi Yue Recitation Arts Festival and National University Students Recitation Competition

The Lingnan Teacher and Student Recitation Team won seven awards at the 24th Qi Yue Recitation Arts Festival and National University Students Recitation Competition of the Ministry of Education and the National Language Commission of The People’s Republic of China, organised by the Communication University of China.

Dr Zhou Bo, Senior Lecturer of Chinese Language Education and Assessment Centre (CLEAC), and Lecturer Ms Wei Sijing led the team to participate in this competition with an original poem "Back to Home" written by the two of them to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland.

This year, 273 universities from 30 provinces, autonomous regions, centrally administered municipalities, and special administrative regions submitted 676 works on the competition theme of “United towards the future as one”. After a national preliminary review, 51 works were selected for online public exhibition, and seven well-known judges were invited to conduct the final assessment before a one-month national online public exhibition.

The team members Lui Kin-yee (Economics, Year 4), Zhan Aifan (Chinese, Year 4), Zhao Sikun (Animation and Digital Arts, Year 4), and Tsang Chi-hin (Chinese, Year 3) were awarded the Best Artistic Performance Award. Dr Zhou Bo and Ms Wei Sijing also received the Teaching Excellence Award, and Lingnan University won the Outstanding Organisation Award.

This is the third time that LU has won awards in this national competition, the only Hong Kong tertiary institution to have done so.
