First digital storytelling and AI workshop at Lingnan has a global teaching impact
Lingnan University’s School of Graduate Studies increases teachers’ digital literacy using DST tools and practices promoting a values-based education.
The School of Graduate Studies at Lingnan University organised a workshop on digital storytelling (DST) and artificial intelligence (AI) for educators from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Nigeria on 5 July 2024. The workshop, led by the School’s Associate Professor Lucy Yu Baohua, in partnership with educational institutions in Mainland China and a Nigerian non-governmental organisation, Youth Aid, was to empower teachers, administrators, and policymakers internationally with the knowledge and tools necessary to promote positive psychology, active learning, and overall well-being among school children globally.
The workshop was attended by over 120 people, mainly primary school teachers, but also representatives from the Hong Kong SAR Education Bureau, school principals, and policymakers. There were presentations on the theoretical foundations of DST, practical insights on implementing DST in the classroom, and hands-on guidance on using AI to teach DST.
In the future, the School will continue to deepen cooperation with educational institutions from various regions. By sharing cutting-edge educational technology knowledge such as DST and AI, as well as the latest research outcomes, it will contribute to the flourishing development of global education endeavours with practical teaching tools and experience available to more schools worldwide.
