Yuen Long Tuen Mun Secondary School Debate Competition 2016

The 19th Yuen Long Tuen Mun Secondary School Debate Competition, jointly organised by 11 organisations including Lingnan University, Yuen Long Town Hall, Y’s Men’s Club of North West and the Social Welfare Department, came to a close on 3 December.

The popular competition, which was aimed to enhance secondary school students’ understanding of current affairs and provide them with the opportunity to explore social issues in an in-depth manner through debate, attracted the participation of 32 schools in Yuen Long and Tuen Mun districts. Past topics of the competition covered a wide range of social issues including education, environmental protection, economics, political development and social welfare, and this year’s topic was “Equal Opportunities”.

Representing the University as the officiating guest of the Prize Presentation Ceremony, Ms Jenny Ko Lai-fong, Director of Student Services congratulated the winning students and hoped that the competition could help students gain deeper understanding of equal opportunity issues relating to education, gender, family status, sexual orientation and ethnicity.
