Lingnan University to introduce new JUPAS admission arrangements in 2018
- Event Highlights
Issue No. 72 Oct 2017
Lingnan University will introduce new JUPAS admission arrangements in 2018.
Within the General Entrance Requirements of 33222 whereby all candidates are required to take four core subjects (i.e. Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics Compulsory Part and Liberal Studies) plus another elective of their choice for the purpose of admission to Lingnan, the University will adopt a new “best 5 subjects” approach with subject weightings in calculating the JUPAS admission scores for entrance to Lingnan from 2018.
This approach includes Categories A and C subjects, and excludes Mathematics Extended Part and Category B Applied Learning subjects. The final admissions decisions will be based, after factoring in the subject weightings, on the “best five subjects” that result in the highest weighted admission scores for candidates. This new approach will provide greater flexibility for JUPAS applicants who are interested in Lingnan’s liberal arts education to plan carefully and take additional elective subjects relevant for arts, business and social sciences disciplines.
To facilitate applicants’ choice of study programmes and to enhance transparency on the calculation mechanism of admission scores, the University will also make available the exact subject weightings adopted by individual programmes in the first quarter of 2018 at the University website (www.LN.edu.hk/admissions/ug/jupas/weighting.php).
