Orientation for Non-local Undergraduate Students
The orientation programme and activities will help you adjust to campus life and study at Lingnan. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and the announcement by the University on real-time online teaching and learning arrangements in Term 1, 2020-21, all the orientation programmes for new students will go online. Please read the information below for the detailed arrangements.
Specially Designed Orientation Videos for New Non-local Students
To give you a warm welcome and some adjustment as well as living tips, the Office of Student Affairs and the senior non-local students prepared some online videos for you. Details of the orientation videos will be announced in late August through e-mail.
New Student Orientation (NSO) (All new students are required to attend)
The University offers online programmes for New Student Orientation 2020 in order to provide the essential information and supporting network to new students.
NSO aims at providing the essential information and supporting network to new students to facilitate their adaption to the University life. The University adopts an innovative online approach this year and offers online eLearning programmes on the Moodle platform for new students to acquire the essential information and to self-learn at their own pace and at their most preferred environment. The Hostel Orientation organised by Warden's Offices and its Student Hostel Association to be held between 2 (afternoon) and 5 September 2020 (depend on which hostel you are assigned) with participation fees. For enrolment, please contact the Student Hostel Association of your hostel.
Lingnan Host Family Scheme
Lingnan Host Family Scheme (LHFS) is a programme specially designed for non-local degree-seeking students to render a warm support to facilitate their adaptation to live in Lingnan as well as Hong Kong. By joining this scheme, non-local degree-seeking students can build a stronger sense of belonging, achieve a better adaptation to live in Lingnan, and get a deeper understanding of the Hong Kong society.
New non-local degree-seeking students who joined the scheme will be taking care by a host family who are staff members of Lingnan. Although, students will live in student hostels and not living with their host families. The host families will meet and invite the students to join their family gatherings to render care, support and a home feeling away from home for them.
Due to the COVI-19 pandemic and real-time online teaching and learning arrangements in Term 1, 2020-21, there are some special arrangements for the Lingnan Host Family Scheme. For details and registration of the scheme, please refer to the e-mail to be sent to you in August.
